The CSR Guidelines for Supply Chain document outlines the Sumitomo Corporation Group’s CSR Action Guidelines for Supply Chain Management. The guidelines emphasize respect for human rights, ensuring that there is no involvement in human rights abuses such as mistreatment, physical punishment, sexual harassment, power harassment, and other inhumane treatment. They also stress the importance of preventing forced labor and child labor, ensuring that all labor is voluntary and not under duress, bonded labor, or slave labor. Additionally, the guidelines include protecting young workers and adhering to the minimum working age specified by the International Labour Organization (ILO). Another significant aspect of the guidelines is ensuring fair wages, making sure that wages are fair and not unreasonably low.
SPE is committed to select responsible suppliers who comply with the laws of the pharmaceutical industry, believing that it is of primary importance to create relationships based on trust and compliance with applicable rights and regulations. To support this commitment, the Company follows the Sumitomo Corporation Group’s guidelines, which include 11 principles outlined below:
- Prevent forced labor, child labor and the payment of unfairly low wages.
- Not engage in discriminatory employment practices.
- Respect human rights and not to be complicit in human rights abuses.
- Respect the rights of employees to associate freely in order to ensure open and fair negotiations between labor and management.
- Provide employees with safe and healthy work environments.
- Protect the global environment and give due consideration to biodiversity.
- Ensure the quality and safety of products and services.
- Ensure fair business transactions, to abide by all applicable laws, rules and regulations, and to prevent extortion, bribery and all other forms of corrupt business practices.
- Ensure appropriate information security.
- Cooperate with members of local host communities and contribute to sustainable regional development.
- Disclose information regarding the above in a manner both timely and appropriate.
